The painting of the Iris is made from watercolour, making it a simple painting yet complex in its unique way. It is among plants and flowers that we see and encounter in our day-to-day lives. The Iris captured and stole the hearts of many.

The floral representation used by artists like Durer depicts religious subject matter. The flower holds symbolic meanings. It symbolizes the different stages of the blooming process through the three flowers at various stages in development. The Iris is a lengthy flower and for the artist to capture this perfectly, he painted the flower n two sheets of paper. To Albrecht, this was more than just a painting. He dedicated his time and effort to create this simple yet masterpiece. By painting Iris, the artist made nature the focus of his work. This painting marked an important renaissance period as it promoted the development of a new form of art that breaks free from its religious ties.

The original purple colour of the Iris makes the painting vibrant. The interesting bit is that purple has always held a deep symbolism to many people. It has been associated with royalty and power and also the creative and spiritual brain of an individual. The Iris flower in Ancient Greece has a deep symbolic meaning of a goddess. The goddess acted as a link between heaven and earth and used the rainbow to make the journey. The flower plantation was usually on graves to summon the goddess to ease the passage to heaven for the deceased. The artist made a thoughtful expression by simplifying the painting into a basic artistic element. He focused more on colour and shape. The original painting has its current location in Kunsthalle Bremen in Germany.

Albrecht was a multi-talented artist and he did beautiful works in the art world. Some of his masterpieces include the Young Hare, which is considered an important piece of art. Even though the painting was not easy to paint, he still made it appear very real. Adam and Eve is a painting that exposes his obsession with the idea of a perfect human form and its relation to measurements and proportion. Praying hands, the great piece of turf, Saint Jerome in his study, the four apostles and Madonna and child are some of the few pieces of art the artist painted before he died.

Albrecht is so far Germany's best Renaissance artist. He is considered a genius by many artists who draw inspiration from him. His self-portrait is the oldest and one of the best drawings in the world of art today. Due to this, most artists look up to him and are inspired by his works. His works are in the most famous museums in the world. His self-portrait has high regard as in the likes of the German Mona Lisa.
